Spectrum
Management
Wireless devices such as
pagers and cell
phones are now commonplace in the U.S. and elsewhere. Consumer demand
for mobility in virtually all communications services, and the decline
in price for such devices and associated services, is causing an
increasingly rapid growth in wireless usage. Wireless Internet access,
through various types of handheld devices or Internet appliances, is
expected to further accelerate that trend.
This dramatic growth in
wireless use has
resulted in an equally dramatic growth in the need for radio frequency
spectrum - the medium that wireless devices use to communicate. Without
ready access to reliable, interference-free spectrum, wireless devices
are useless.
In the U.S. and
internationally, the use
of RF spectrum is subject to governmental regulation. At ALG, our
lawyers are well-versed in those regulations and have broad experience
in representing clients before the Federal Communications Commission
and other relevant agencies, both here and abroad.
They are also experienced
in a wide range
of transactional work for telecommunications companies and can assist
wireless companies not only on the regulatory side but in acquiring
spectrum, or the rights to use spectrum, in various types of private
transactions.
